Details of ADHD and psychoeducational testing:
Too often, difficult children are incorrectly labeled with ADHD. On the other hand, many children who do have ADHD remain undiagnosed. In either case, related learning disabilities or mood problems are often missed. The individual should have a clinical evaluation if ADHD is suspected. Testing is also required now by ACT and SAT to take the test with extended time (50% more testing time). This is considered a special accommodation for those formally diagnosed with ADHD or learning disabilities. In order to receive special accommodations in schools and universities and on standardized tests a full psycho-educational assessment is required by someone credentialed to administer tests such as a psychologist in order to document any disability or special need. ADHD evaluations need to be updated every 3-4 years for documentation purposes or they are considered outdated and will not be considered by schools or organizations for special accommodations. Psycho-educational testing can be beneficial for diagnostic clarification and treatment planning including medication and identification of special accommodations needed.
ADHD/Learning Disability Evaluations for Children age 6 and above and for Adults.
Evaluation includes:
- Psycho-educational evaluation of the client including IQ testing (WISC IV for children; WAIS-IV
adults ages 16 and above); Woodcock Johnson III Tests of Achievement (for children and adults).
This testing will assess ADHD, IQ, learning disabilities and cognitive abilities (strengths and
weaknesses)
- History of symptoms and clinical interview - developmental, mental, and psychosocial history included
- Self report questionnaires
